No More Cameras

Arnold's car is his office and mode of transportation for his job. I now have to commute to work versus walking two blocks to the front of campus. The traffic cameras are not our friends. Last spring, Arnold got a ticket in the mail for accidentally running a red light. Did an officer see him, state trooper, or chief? No, just a stupid camera perched on a pole. This February, I got a ticket in the mail for speeding in a school zone. Hey, I was late for work and was only doing like 30 mph. The other day we get another ticket. Arnold again. Speeding down the road. 48 in a 35. Dear New Orleans, Please dismantle your cameras. At this rate, I will be working just to pay off tickets. Thank you.

A Word for Wednesday

The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him;
it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.

Messy

The other week I cleaned off my desk, organized, and dusted. A week and a half later, we're back to this...

You Know It's a Friday When...

You need a gallon of caffeine to keep you awake...it's the end of the week and you're so exhausted!

It rains all day and is forecast to rain all weekend.

You drop your lunch on the nasty floor and have nothing to eat.

It's t-shirt and jeans day.

You're thinking that Domino's will be cooking supper tonight.

You think it should be three o'clock but the clock says 9:30.

Enjoy your weekend!

On Sale or Not?

One of my pet peeves, at least since I've been married and have to buy lots of groceries, is prices ringing up wrong at the register. I carefully select many items when I shop based on their sale price, but I've noticed that when you get up to the register half of the time, the price rings up wrong. This irks me because I feel like it's false advertising. I would not have bought the product had it not been on sale, and had I not been vigilent, I would have had to pay full price. This has happened to me a lot at Winn-Dixie, and it has happened to me several times at Target. Now in a previous post, I blogged about how much I loved Target and the fact that they would change the price for you at the register. Today, not so much. The box of food I put in my buggy because it was on sale rang up wrong at the register. I discussed the wrong price with the girl at the register who argued with me that it was the right price. Finally I told her to just take it off the ticket, but she gave it to me for the sale price. (After she rang me up, I went back and checked and I was right). Anyway, the price difference: $.20! You may think I'm crazy, cheap, or stingy, but it's the principle of the matter. Attention retail stores: Don't advertise your product on sale if it's really not on sale and don't make me believe that I'm getting it on sale if it's not. Please fix your registers if the item is really on sale. And don't make me argue with you at the register. And could you please train your cashiers not to roll their eyes at me. :)
Am I the only one that encounters this?

Staying Awake

I guess asking her to stay awake for supper was just too much to ask for.

An Opportunity to Return

Friday night, I found something out about one of my favorite Christian artists from way back. See this article http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/music/interviews/2010/jenniferknapp-apr10.html To say I'm shocked would be an understatement. It's had me thinking all weekend about how we tend to view Christian "celebrities" as more godly than the rest of us. But you know, they're just human beings too, tempted by sin, falling short, and needing forgiveness. She is a very gifted and talented songwriter/singer, and I am geniunely and sincerely praying for her. She said in an article on cnn.com, "If I am in any way unpleasing in his[God's] sight, I can only hope and pray that he gives me the opportunity to find who I am supposed to be." He has given her that opportunity and still does, let's just pray she will be who Christ made her to be.

Crazy Times

There have been some crazy things going on lately!

I am not happy about the fact that there was a murder right across the street from where we live the other day. And we live in a decent part of town!

In my co-workers hometown, a house blew up from a natural gas line leak underneath. It was a really nice house in a really nice neighborhood. The house was blown to smithereans(don't know if this is a real word...and don't know how to spell it...I'm too lazy to look it up on the internet) and the houses around it are destroyed.

Earthquakes, earthquakes, earthquakes! I am losing count.

Have you heard about the volcano in Iceland?

What is going on?

A Reminder

Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name,
Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits--
who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,
who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

Psalm 103: 1-5

The Office

Last summer, my sister got me started on The Office. I am now up to season five and LOVE this show. It is so hilarious. Now I understand why everyone raved about it. But I think you really have to watch it from the beginning to understand the characters. If you have never seen this show and sit down and watch an episode from a random season, you will not understand why it is funny. Do you watch this show?
So in the spirit of The Office, I decided to do a post about my office. Below are a few pictures...

Cute Dresses

How do you like these beautiful little dresses? I felt like it was Christmas when these arrived in the mail. My great aunt works at a clothing store back home that sells damaged clothing, whether it be a button missing or a strap broken, for cheap. She lets my grandmother know when good, fixable clothes come in. My grandmother is able to buy children's clothes from there for really cheap and fix them. Then she sends them to me. What a blessing! These dresses are so adorable and I can't wait for Peyton to be able to wear them.

Apparently hives and allergic reactions are good developmental boosters because our wee little one started crawling yesterday. Actually, I think she's just trying to keep up with her big sister. Thanks for all your prayers for Raegan!

The $1500 Teaspoon of Benadryl

Yesterday I rushed Raegan to the ER because her face turned as red as a tomato and started swelling. She began clawing at her face and ears and smacking her tongue, which likely meant that her tongue and throat were starting to swell. Thankfully we were right at the hospital because she had just visited an opthamologist about her clogged tear duct. I see this as the Lord's providence. Now I realize that I could have given her Benadryl myself, but when you think your seven month old's throat may be swelling, you rush them to the hospital. Scary. She did not need a steroid shot and we have no idea what caused the reaction, though this past weekened she started having a few mild episodes of hives. Join me in praying that we discover the reason for these reactions.
